The overall organization will be in the capacious hands of the COYCH with the support of the Hyeres town and harbor.
COYCH is fully experienced in this type of event, since it hosted the same series' world championships in 2006.
More than hundred units are expected to turn up for this unique event, due to take place in Hyères in the late summer, raising fair hopes of an exceptional attendance in terms both of spectators and national teams : Italians – mainstay participants in this series; Germans but also Spanish, Portuguese, Swiss, British and Nordics.
The French, obviously, will be there en force, and will do their utmost to bring the championship back home.
Offshore, weather conditions at that particular time of year should offer a variety of interesting and challenging sailing situations. Within a week, every type of wind is liable to take over, from a full-blown mistral to thermic brize or eastern wind.
Ashore, the COYCH will host all the competitors at the « Espace Nautique Hyerois » with a huge social program and very friendly meeting places. Pasta parties, happy hours, provençal party, and price giving.
Hyeres shops and hotels owners will give their best welcome to all the competitors of this European championship. Everyone on the port will take part to this regatta, and some big brands of the sail (Liros, Quantum, Aigle, Eurovoiles, …) will be the partners of the COYCH, to make this championship a great event.
« Novembre a Hyeres » 2008 (Open French Monotypes National Championship) from October 30th to November 2nd will be a great practice for this European 2009.
